Frequency Theme: The Gate of Stimulation
The Sun is now moving through Gate 56, the Gate of Stimulation in Human Design—also known as The Wanderer in the I’Ching. It’s the second week we’re waltzing with the throat center in the collective consciousness, the energetic center of communication, visibility, and impact.
This week, it’s all about storytelling from lived experience. You’re being invited to speak up, not just for attention, but for the evolution of yourself and others.
Last week, Gate 62 asked us to stay logical, precise, and rooted in objective truth. This week, Gate 56 adds rich juicy color, metaphor, and emotional resonance into this cosmic mashup. Because people don’t transform from spreadsheets that make their eyes glaze over; they transform from real stories that make them say, “Oh shit…that’s me. I can relate.”
Gate 56 asks you: What story are you telling yourself, and is it leading you closer to your power or further from it?
Because as you know…stories heal, but they can also keep us trapped in a prison of our past.
If Gate 56 Is Defined in Your Chart…
In your highest frequency, you’re all about the lived experiences, the travel, the adventures, and the hard-earned wisdom. You have the potential to be an enthralling storyteller with the power to reframe pain and offer real perspective and insight. When you speak (or write) from a place of heart-led service, you become a mirror that helps others see new possibilities for themselves.
You were born to teach, uplift, and spark curiosity. But here’s the deal—showing up means bringing a little vulnerability, a little humor, and leaving the polished, performative BS behind. That stuff only creates distance. (It’s the vibe of I know where you are because I lived it.)
What This Transit Brings to the Party Whether You RSVPed or Not):
This energy is about collecting memories, experiences, and meaning, and sharing them in a way that enriches the collective.
Gate 56 connects the throat center to the ajna, forming the Channel of Curiosity (11-56). So when you think about this energy, I like to imagine your favorite dinner party guests who sits down and announces, “You’ll never believe what happened to me last week…” and in the telling, offers others a window into a new way of viewing the world.
When I reflect on this gate, I think about a story I used to tell myself for decades.
You see, my mom was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was a child. I often found myself playing the role of caretaker, especially after my parents divorced. No one ever told me I had to do it. I just decided that to keep everything from collapsing, I needed to be the strong one. The responsible one. The good kid.
That story became my identity. But it came at a cost: I lost my childhood. I didn’t feel like I belonged in most circles, so most of the time I kept quiet about my personal life. And when I got to college, I found my escape: alcohol.
It was magic at first. Just down a glass, and I could finally let loose. I could finally laugh, play, and say the thoughts running through my head. In those moments, I let go of the pressure to have it all together. But that liquid escapism started leading to into blackouts and risky behavior that could have ended very badly. I won’t go into all of it now. Just know this: alcohol wasn’t the answer. And this is an example of the shadow of Gate 56, we get lost in distractions and find ways to escape looking at ourselves or dealing with reality.
Fast forward to 2019, during my final weeks of hypnosis training as we conducted a walking hypnosis through the trees of the Hudson Valley. And it was during this session that I imagined that little girl and all of her joy being released from the old wooden closet she had locked herself inside of, and I decided I’d give her the space to experience the play and joy she missed out on from that day forward.
But what I realized through all of this is that experience of being my mother’s caretaker on the days when she was suicidal has actually made me the deeply attuned healer and coach I am today. And this the story I know now.
That’s the frequency of Gate 56, it turns those painful years into meaningful, life-elevating purpose. And this is when life gets really good.
The Frequency Spectrum of Gate 56
Let’s explore how this energy can play out in your life because every frequency can evolve on the daily. It’s your awareness that makes the difference.
🌀 Low Frequency
Sharing from a place when you’re still swimming in the hurt instead of beyond it
Becoming easily distracted or overstimulated as a way of escaping yourself
Holding back your truth out of fear (you know the kind when you swallow back what needs to be shared or you show up in your fake perfectionism instead of your rich humanity)
Getting stuck in old victim narratives — blaming, shaming and holding onto the lie that life is “supposed” to fair
Embellishing or manipulating stories to sell more material emptiness
Escaping into fantasy to avoid what’s real (kind of like when you’re watching style Reels vs having a real conversation with your partner who is also on their phone)
⚡️ High Frequency
Emotionally uplifting others through your own story
Teaching through metaphor, lived experience, and humor
Seeing beauty and meaning in the unexpected (Like I randomly spotted Natalie Portman across the street from my condo this week. That was fun.)
Helping people see the best in themselves, pointing out what makes them special/interesting in your eyes
Knowing the difference between distraction (mindless scrolling) and enrichment (traveling to experience new cultures and ways of seeing the world)
Energetic Tip of the Week:
“What’s the story that’s ready to evolve?”
This week, slow down and ask yourself: “What is the one story that keeps holding me back?”
Once you find it, ask yourself or journal the following out.
If this was my hero’s journey? What did this character learn from going through those hardships?
What does this character now own as a superpower or tool?
How can I commit to owning this superpower or tool?
Let’s Get Visible: Gate 56 Content Prompts
(A wink for those of you who grew up in the 80s.)
Use this week’s visibility prompts for storytelling that connects, converts, and heals:
You don’t need a perfect beginning to share a powerful ending.
→ Remind your audience that sometimes the impact lives in their process, journey, or experience. If your life feels like a plot twist, you're probably the main character.
→ Reframe uncertainty as an invitation to get curious. The secret to storytelling that connects? Share the scar, not the wound.
→ Educate on the difference between venting your pain and offering a lesson or new perspective.Hot take: All the distracted scrolling is killing relationships.
→ Shine light on the shadow side of distraction. Then offer a way to interrupt the pattern.I used to think I needed a polished brand voice. Turns out I just needed to stop editing my truth.
→ This could be your opening line for a Substack post/note, podcast intros, or your LinkedIn article.

Hi Nicole! I’m a newbie to all of this, but enthralled already. Your reflection on Gate 56 stopped me in my tracks - especially this line: “Because people don’t transform from spreadsheets… they transform from real stories.” Yes. That’s what I’ve been leaning into during this second half of life.
My husband and I retired early to slow travel the world, and writing has become the way I process it all - the past, the pivots, the places. Gate 56 feels like the perfect metaphor for what we’re experiencing: collecting stories, reframing old wounds, and offering them up in service of something bigger.
If you’re curious, I’d love to have you drop by.
